The Battery is a lineup tool for youth baseball and softball coaches. Some of what a coach types into it describes children, so this page is written to be read by a parent, not only by a lawyer.
The Battery is built and run by Scott Haungs as a personal project in Massachusetts ("The Battery", "we", "us"). You can reach us at privacy@lineupiq.app.
This policy covers the Battery web application and any mobile application we publish. It applies from the effective date above and replaces any earlier version.
The Battery is built for coaches and is intended for adults aged 18 or over. It is not directed at children, we do not market it to children, and children do not create accounts or enter information into it. Everything in a team was typed there by an adult coach.
We do not collect player surnames, dates of birth, ages, photographs, video, addresses, phone numbers, player or parent email addresses, medical or injury information, school information, or precise location. We do not use advertising identifiers or behavioural tracking of any kind.
A pitch limit is stored as a number — 50, 75 or 85 — because that is the figure a league's rules operate on. The coach picks it. No age, grade or date of birth is recorded, worked out, or stored next to it.
Player records describe minors, and we have designed the product so that those records identify a child as little as the product allows. A player is stored as a first name and last initial with no age and no date of birth, which is enough for a coach who already knows the child and materially less useful to anyone who does not.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Coaches, not children, enter this information.
One player, more than one team. A child often pitches for a rec team and a travel team in the same week, and neither coach can see what the other spent. Where the same first name and last initial appears on more than one team inside a single coach's account, The Battery adds those pitch counts together so the rest-day rules apply to the child rather than to the roster. That matching happens on the coach's own phone, among teams that coach can already see. It never shows a player's record to anyone who could not already see it.
If you are a parent or guardian and want to know what a coach has recorded about your child, ask the coach first — they can see and edit it directly, and can remove a player from a roster at any time. If you would rather approach us, write to privacy@lineupiq.app and we will help you identify the record and, where we are able, erase it. We may need the coach's or the league's involvement to locate a particular child, precisely because we hold so little identifying information.
Coaches using The Battery are responsible for having whatever permission their league, club or school requires before recording information about a player.
We do not use your team data to train machine learning models, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Other coaches, only when you choose. A team is private to you until you invite someone by email. An invited coach sees that team's roster, statistics and lineups. You can see who has access and revoke it at any time from the app. Revoking access removes their copy on their next sync.
Service providers who run the infrastructure on our behalf, under contract, and only for that purpose:
We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or where necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights. If The Battery is ever sold or transferred, information may transfer as part of that transaction, and we will post notice here before it does.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Data is stored on servers in the United States. We keep your account and team data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we erase your account, the teams you own and their rosters, your seats on other coaches' teams and any unused invitations. That deletion is immediate and irreversible — nothing is archived or soft-deleted. Server logs are retained on a short rolling window by our hosting provider and expire on their own.
Two of these are buttons in the app, under Setup → Account, and need no request to us:
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or restrict our use of your information, to object to processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. Write to privacy@lineupiq.app and we will respond within the time your law allows, and within 45 days at the latest. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Connections use TLS. Passwords are hashed. Every team is protected at the database level by rules that check your identity on each request, so one coach cannot read another's data even if the application had a bug. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. The Battery is not intended for medical, disciplinary, or other sensitive records, and you should not put them in it.
If we change this policy we will update the effective date, and for material changes we will give notice in the app before the change takes effect.
